Volleyball

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

Oak is playing in the sand volleyball league at IBM with some of our other friends. I went to practice with him last night, and now both of my hands are bruised. I am too sensitive for volleyball! No wonder it hurt so much every time I hit the ball.. LOL. I [...]

Physical training

Tuesday, September 12th, 2006

After an intense Body Pump session last night, I’ve finally targeted the muscle groups that I obviously am weak in, judged by soreness today - in order of pain from most to least:
Chest (oh my armpits! Does that mean the “underarm blob” might go away if I keep going to this class? I think [...]

Gym wisdom

Monday, February 13th, 2006

During a rather long series of squats, the instructor said….. “If you don’t squeeze it [your butt] nobody else will!” lol.
How true. This is perhaps the single best piece of wisdom I’ve gotten from an athletic instructor. haha.
If you haven’t guessed, I’m enjoying some rather rigorous Wedding Workouts…. must get rid of [...]

Feeling hot hot hot

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

What can I say? I’ve been busy slaving away for the Man. Our translation shipment is this week, and next week is a shipment of another 300-page doozy, of which I am the only writer/editor. Yes indeed. Who knew sitting at a computer all day could be so physically exhausting. [...]

Local TV

Monday, October 10th, 2005

My latest gym activity is to watch the local news, sans sound or captions. It’s a great way to learn (or assume) the area happenings. For example, today’s feature was about a group of senior citizens who played bocce ball. And boy, were they excited. There were tons of action shots, [...]

Sweatin’ it out

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

Perhaps I’m resolving to make more posts to my website. Have you decided on a resolution yet?
Speaking of resolutions, there were like a bazillion people at my gym and even more touring it periodically through the hour I was there today. Haha. Big times in the gym business, you know. I [...]

The price of fitness

Monday, February 2nd, 2004

I seem to have forgotten to mention how my new fitness club is going. O2 Fitness is, indeed, a yuppie fitness fiend’s dream. As you enter, giant columns with water pouring down them are behind a reception desk that’s lit up by blue neon (not as tacky as it sounds..). The locker [...]

Fat Free Vs. Fat Loss

Saturday, May 4th, 2002

I was at breakfast in the Commons this morning, putting some syrup on my pancakes when I noticed the labels on the ladles. They had this big ‘ol vat of melted butter there, and the label on the ladle said “fat free.” Right. Then I looked at the syrup ladle in my [...]
