Chicken for breakfast
By Carrie | April 22, 2008

I can’t believe that it’s just occurred to me to write about the southern phenomenon of chicken for breakfast. Back in the days when I was a Northerner, I had never heard of such a thing. In fact, I’m pretty sure the idea of a breakfast meat besides pork (in the form of bacon or sausage) would have made my tummy turn.
Now, though… I CRAVE chicken biscuits. Preferably Bojangles. Most definitely with a packet of Texas Pete hot sauce on top (another NC specialty). With a large sweet tea. Even though Bojangles probably originated this phenomenon, you can get a chicken biscuit locally at fast food chains such as McDonalds and Wendy’s. Bet you won’t find that on the menus up North! And they don’t know what they’re missing!
Like biscuits? Like chicken? Then you’ll like a chicken biscuit. Just don’t come running to me when you’re craving one at 4am before Bojangles opens… :) It’s worth the wait (which, unbelievably, I have done once before dropping Oak off for an early flight the airport! That almost made waking up so early tolerable!).
On that note, I will head to bed and dream of chicken biscuits. Unfortunately I’ve already had my quota for the week so it’s back to healthy granola tomorrow morning. Oh, bother.

Mmm.it sure does look good. especially since we didn’t have anything good to bring for lunch today (a direct result of my lack of desire to go food shopping recently). My measly 6 rice cakes and blood orange are just not cutting it! Can we say, “I wish there was a Bojangles next door?” I think we can.
