So, what have we been up to?
Oak’s birthday was over the weekend. I crafted him a delicious icebox cake, and he made chicken legs and delicious mashed potatoes for everyone. Yummy! On Sunday, a large amount of baking ensued, including a “Sky high breakfast bake,” blueberry muffins, and a giant challah bread that nearly took over the oven. Pictures soon.
In other news, we’re also busy getting thousands of dollars worth of dental work done this month. Last Wednesday I went and got a mold made for some new veneers. That was the first time I’ve had that done… you have to sit with this slime in your mouth for 8 minutes. In the meantime, I had to swallow, and ended up choking and nearly spitting the mold out. I was a little scared that I was going to have to sit ANOTHER 8 minutes, but apparently the first one came out okay. In 4 weeks, I get the veneers done. I didn’t realize this was such a process – I thought I’d be walking away with them done last week!
Then, yesterday, Oak got some surgery done. He’s on soft foods and has a bunch of stitches in his mouth. He showed them to me, and I wanted to run away, proving that I probably wouldn’t do so well as a dentist. However, I feel we all need to seriously consider this profession considering the fact that all services cost a small fortune (or at least 5 house payments). They must be raking in the dough, big time.
We’re putting all the dental drama aside for later this week, when we’re heading to the Outer Banks for 4 days with Oak’s family. Finally, the beach!
