Oak and I performed our civic duties by attending the Morrisville town center design workshop meeting last night.
It wasn’t all work, though. We were first enticed with barbeque, fried chicken, and a healthy dose of sweet tea. Just before dessert, we got a very special visit from McGruff the crime dog. Even more special, was that ELVIS entered the building. He not only gave us a nice little speech about how great Morrisville is (next to Memphis) but he sang a song about Dixie, or something to that effect. THEN, everyone sang “Glory glory Hallelujah.” Our table was very amused, and inspired by the Elvis to work that much harder on our design work.
We proposed many things for the town, such as the rerouting of Rt 54 so the town center isn’t just a hiccup of traffic for commuters. My other favorite parts were added retail space to the old Rt 54 (now rerouted) and a library. Wouldn’t that be convenient. We also suggested some civil war statues and memorabilia, but wouldn’t it have been clever to propose a statue of ELVIS and MCGRUFF for graciously coming to our design meeting? I might have to call that one in.
