Coming soon to a grocery store near you: Redbox automated DVD rental.
This sucker showed up in our Harris Teeter this weekend, conveniently located near the entrance. It’s a big machine that holds a limited selection of DVDs, available for rental at $1 per day. You put in your credit card, select the DVD, and the machine spits out the DVD in a little case. The next day (or however many days you like, at $1 per day), you stick the DVD in a little slot in the machine to return it.
Even though we’ve already got a Hollywood video in the shame shopping center, I can see Redbox giving it a run for its money. Especially when you know you’re watching the movie that night… you can save a lot of money!
