It’s a continual challenge to get motivated to prepare and bring healthy lunches to work instead of hitting up unhealthy eateries every day.

It seems that some take it as a motivating factor document and photograph their lunch creations.

Through these sites, I’m also noticing the interesting products they are making for adults lunch boxes. Remember when you just had to have that Barbie, Care bears, Transformers, Superman, or < insert_favorite_cartoon_character_here > lunch box?

Our favorite wine carrier maker, Built NY, now has a great lunchbag, the Gourmet getaway tote, that I received for my birthday. It has plenty of room for your drink, big plastic container of leftovers, and some fruit.

Mr. Bento and laptop lunches extremely cute, but I just don’t pack 5 different little portions of food in my lunch every day. The Wrap n mat is also interesting – it turns your sandwich wrapper into a little placemat, ideal for chowing down in your cubicle.

Now.. if only one of those lunch-photographing people would prepare my lunch every day… :)

Now, let me start off by saying that, in general, I support small dog clothing. As long as it doesn’t bother the dog – why not? Lucy, my sister chihuahua, frequently wears tshirts and sweaters in the winter time to keep warm (and look cute). However, please let the alarms go off when the dog has a more expansive and luxurious wardrobe than your own.

For example, this Dog wedding gown cost MORE than my gown did!!!! True, my wedding dress cost a lot less than most (hellow, you wear it for one day… get a grip, bridezillas!), but $230 for a dress for your dog? My gosh. I’d be pretty mad if I had to spend that much on a bridesmaid gown. Not to mention the fact that this dog does not look very happy about that hat/veil contraption. I realize that it’s handmade and all, but… really? Who’s that crazy?

PS Don’t even ask how on earth I came across this website. :)

Oak and I performed our civic duties by attending the Morrisville town center design workshop meeting last night.

It wasn’t all work, though. We were first enticed with barbeque, fried chicken, and a healthy dose of sweet tea. Just before dessert, we got a very special visit from McGruff the crime dog. Even more special, was that ELVIS entered the building. He not only gave us a nice little speech about how great Morrisville is (next to Memphis) but he sang a song about Dixie, or something to that effect. THEN, everyone sang “Glory glory Hallelujah.” Our table was very amused, and inspired by the Elvis to work that much harder on our design work.

We proposed many things for the town, such as the rerouting of Rt 54 so the town center isn’t just a hiccup of traffic for commuters. My other favorite parts were added retail space to the old Rt 54 (now rerouted) and a library. Wouldn’t that be convenient. We also suggested some civil war statues and memorabilia, but wouldn’t it have been clever to propose a statue of ELVIS and MCGRUFF for graciously coming to our design meeting? I might have to call that one in.

Coming soon to a grocery store near you: Redbox automated DVD rental.

This sucker showed up in our Harris Teeter this weekend, conveniently located near the entrance. It’s a big machine that holds a limited selection of DVDs, available for rental at $1 per day. You put in your credit card, select the DVD, and the machine spits out the DVD in a little case. The next day (or however many days you like, at $1 per day), you stick the DVD in a little slot in the machine to return it.

Even though we’ve already got a Hollywood video in the shame shopping center, I can see Redbox giving it a run for its money. Especially when you know you’re watching the movie that night… you can save a lot of money!

This is interesting. You can find out which celebrities you most resemble. It even gives you a percentage match. Here are mine:

Tata Young (61%)
Kirsten Dunst (61%)
Reese Witherspoon (59%)
Shania Twain (59%)
Paula Abdul (59%)
Leslie Caron (58%)
Sally Field (57%)
Jessica Alba (57%)

I don’t see how I resemble Paula Abdul so much, so if you’d like to give me some enlightenment on that one, it would be appreciated.

On the other hand, I don’t completely mind that several of the “hottest” celebrities are listed. Is this real, or a self-esteem booster? On the other hand, Leslie Caron was listed, who is like 90 years old or something. I’m surprised Helen Hunt wasn’t on there, as I see us as having remarkably similar foreheads.

So, everyone should do this and let me know what celebrities they get…. like – will my mom and I resemble some of the same celebrities? It only takes a few minutes.

Jack's
I’ve posted our photos from our July 4th adventure!

We ate way too much barbeque, and are currently taking a little break from the piggy. But we tried many delectable treats. My personal ranking of the places we visited:
1. Jack’s in Nashville – Kind of ironic that the best place (in my opinion) was in Nashville… not in Memphis, which is supposed to be famous for their que.
2. Corky’s in Memphis – cool (though chain-restaurant esque) decor, good and juicy!
3. Neely’s in Memphis – the Real thing. The beans were uber tasty!
4. Pigs on Beale in Memphis – unsuitable. Dry pork and poor service!

Some other enjoyable parts of our trip: A tour of Mammoth cave in Kentucky, riding the slides at Dollywood’s splash country, a ride on the Memphis Queen Riverboats, and a random discovery of the Birthplace of KFC.

See all the photos here.
