The weather here is beginning to remind me a bit of New York – just a few days ago it was 80 degrees, while today it barely hit 50. We actually had to turn the heat back on in our apartment. Humph.
Despite the 80 degree weather, I have still been wearing winter clothing to work, since the building seems to be kept at some very low, frigid temperature. I’m considering a blanket, space heater and/or heated keyboard for my cubicle to keep me from shivering, sipping hot tea, and sitting on my hands all day. lol.
Today I have been obsessed with BBC America. But why is IBM a sponsor of the auction show “Cash in the Attic” ?? Very strange. I think my monthly dose of English accents has just about been fulfilled.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done some ridiculous quizzes online, so, I figured the time has come.

Small, high strung, and loyal.
You do best in the city with adults – young kids could crush you!

A bit of caffeine high led me to fix my “Consuming” area there on the left. It turns out that there is an RSS feed published on the allconsuming site, so I put the magpie RSS parser thing on here and made it work. I haven’t figured out if I can get the images back. There is a javascript baby to get this back to normal, but I felt like experimenting. We shall see.
Did you know in addition to my consuming feed, there is a feed for this here weblog ? I personally find it easier just to go to the web pages, but someone out there might be geeky enough to be dying for a feed. (hmph.)
I don’t know why I was suddenly motivated to do this, as it’s been a rather intense work week. Ah well, could have been the two rather large cups of coffee.
Now that I think about it, I should have worked on some new graphics instead.
One last geeky thing : If you’re on Movable Type 2.6x, refuse to upgrade, and are getting sick of comment spam, you can do a batch close of comments on old entries. My gmail is thanking me already.
Also, the buying/moving process is going off without a hitch – so far.
Score. Most of my free time is now spent dreaming of wall color choices.
Yesterday, we went for a hike through Umstead State Park. I think we did a total of 6 miles, which apparently is a lot for my weakling body. I am aching a bit, but I think that is mainly a result of a spill that I took on the last 1/4 mile on some wide steps. At least I felt that the BLT I consumed at Sonic beforehand was burned off suffieciently (at least I think so)…
Our goal was to go to Sycamore Lake, which we never found. We are thinking that it was on the other side of a hill or something, as we went up and down quite a few of those suckers. I always thought our part of NC was pretty flat, but no, no I was wrong. We also saw a few lizards and a SNAKE! (ew!) It was a rewarding experience and I hope to do more miles someday without dying.. lol
Maybe we need to schedule a meal stop or break into these hikes somehow. Yes. Definitely.
I don’t see this aching body stuff stopping soon- as for the next month or so we’ll be packing and moving and cleaning and painting. Let’s face it, sitting in a cube 8 hours a day for the past 2 years has disintegrated my previously lean, muscular body (OK that’s a big joke. But I definitely think it’s given me a back problem! lol).
