Hoarding vacation days all year results in my working about 8 more days for the remainder of the year. Not that I’m complaining.
Oak and I are leaving early on Friday morning (about 12-1am) for Miami. Depending on how much energy we have, we’ll explore Miami some before passing out in the ship and departing on the cruuuuise!! Maybe tomorrow (?) night we will actually figure out what we’re doing at each port. If not, we’ll wing it!
On a (Caribbean Island) related note, I am watching the “Real” Gilligan’s Island on TV. It is very special.
The theme performed by Bowling For Soup dragged me in. I continue to be mildly amused, but really I’m just waiting for Sex and the City to come on.
I’m highly doubting I’ll get to posting anything before Thanksgiving. Busy busy!
However, I’d like to share my recent (re)discovery of pomegranates. Oak bought me a couple a few weeks ago. Then I read Shira’s very detailed pomegranate article and was inspired to try the Pom wonderful juice.
I was always attracted to the bulbous bottle, but was unsure of the contents and the $3 price tag. A tad pricey, but I think that the pure organic juice is worth it. I tried just the plain pomegranate flavor today, but I’m looking forward to trying the others on other occasions when I might head to Whole foods for a special treat. For example, today’s reason was to motivate the cleaning process. Occasional rewards keep it from being a totally horrid task!
I suppose I shall get back to it now – hopefully the vaccuum won’t wake Oak up. lol.
Can I wake Queen Motifas up from dormancy? Here’s the tres inspired project I attempted lately: The dog coat.

Dog boutiques severely overcharge for these small dog necessities. Some fleece, velcro and seam binding and Lucy is warm for the winter. All for only $7. Plus, the dog doesn’t care if you don’t sew everything completely straight…

I highly enjoy sketchy Big Lots exotic beverages. For only 49 cents, I was able to try the Canadian beverage Tre Limone. OK, it was pretty much a lemon-flavored spritzer – though a nice one. Not too sweet. Of course the hot packaging attracted me as well. I am so easy to entice.
And the price tag, of course. I might have to go stock up. Une boisson d?licieuse, oui oui.
I am not normally huge lover of all things pumpkin. Every Thanksgiving I pass up the pie for preferably something chocolate. Apparently I have not been giving pumpkin the attention it deserves.
Last night, Oak got this pumpkin ravioli that I am currently dreaming about. It was at Lucky 32, a restaurant that I have been trying to get a chance to go to for awhile now. (And no, it is not Asian food at all, though that was my first impression as well.) My Autumn salad, while good, just did not compare. We definitely have to get back there before the “Autumn” menu expires.
I think I’m going to go salivate now.
Is anyone else as confused by “Finding Nemo on Ice” as I am?
I, personally, wouldn’t like to see Nemo in my sushi roll any time soon. And ice skating fish? That just has me baffled. Any thoughts?
A Nemo-related update:
I have finally made a site for our cruise in December. Mostly to keep us, the travelers, organized. It’s about time we figure out what the heck we are doing at all these ports. Haha. And this site is the least ghetto of my recent layouts. Ding. The content is what you might call non-existant or lacking, but I promise, more soon(ish).
I am doing well in keeping up posting stuff so far. Yahoo.
Today I got a haircut with Sandy, my finally-found favorite hairdresser in the triangle. Thank god. I love not having to worry if my hair is going to be cut to look like Dora the explorer.
I also went to one of my favorite local hangouts, da Library. The Cary library has this “magazine exchange” where you can drop off your old magazines, and take whatever you like from what other people have brought in. And this week, I just about had a coronary because the latest issue of Budget Living was there! Hellow, I was just thinking 2 days ago that I needed to go out and buy the latest copy. Now I don’t have to. Ding!
Because of the annoying alumni newsletters, I discovered that RPI is “America’s most connected campus.” Not a huge surprise. But a 60:100 student to computer ratio? I guess that must just be counting the desktop computers on campus, because some people definitely had 4+ computers housed in their dorm rooms. And if you didn’t at least have one computer, you were definitely some kind of alien from another planet, certainly not an RPI student. I like how the article also failed to mention “amount of campus online traffic due to online gaming.” Ah well, they probably didn’t want to show how much we would have won by on that one.
I am trying to make an effort to post more often, perhaps twice a week. Sounds like a reasonable effort, but we shall see.
I’m continuing my annual campaign to complain about daylight savings time. Florescently lit cube farm + sunset at 4:30 pm = Unhappy Carrie. If perhaps the presidential candidates could find a resolution to this problem, I would consider voting. I personally have not found my candidate and am very sick of the stupid political propaganda campaigns on TV. Face it, I am too lazy to vote, but even more disinterested in reading about politics to choose the candidates to vote for. Oy. I am still a dedicated member of the Cosmopolitan party, at least.

Another thing that makes Carrie unhappy is when her car gets ran into. That happened over the weekend, and now I have to meet up with the Geico dudes to get it all straightened out. So far, so good though. If I didn’t have to pay a deductible I’d say so far it’s been a highly pleasant experience with the lizard people. Ah, well.
On a happier note, I’d like to announce that Oak and I are taking a cruise to the Southern Caribbean December 3-12. It shall be hot stuff. Details soon.
