Who from LeRoy recalls Mr. MacKenzie, the beloved Geometry and Calculus teacher? (leave a comment! I know someone must be reading this!) He is most famed for his panic button sticker that hung on the side board (“Don’t push it!”) and the phrase “plug and chug” for variable substitution. He also had this sign, “Think” that sat on the file cabinet. Sometimes he would dramatically point at is head and say, “Just think!” and then point at the sign.
It turns out this “Think” thing originated at IBM, which I randomly found today on our intranet. Who knew?
I believe I still have my “panic button” necklace pendant that Jules got for me to celebrate the end of Course II.
Did you also know that IBM is a proponent of talking sushi? Now you do.
Enough of the geekiness!

You can never have enough geekiness! More Geek is required! All we had in geometry was a picture of a native american that said Chief Sohcahtoa to remember the trig functions. We also had this buzzer that my teach would bring out if we got a lot of questions wrong. When you got it wrong she would press the buzzer. One of her sayings used to be “Don’t do this, or the buzzer will sound”.

The letters in THINK can also spell KINTH. Just THINK about that for a second now. Thank you for teaching me IBM, thank you.
P.S. I Love the 90s premieres on VH1 Monday, July 12th at 9pm!!!

What a random thing to think about but Mr. Mac was the greatest! Got to love the “cheesey” teachers.

I think I pressed the panic button at least 30 times a day in that class. And the dreaded “think” point. Everytime he did that I ended up trying to figure out what I was supposed to be thinking about…math is so beyond me.
