Now, I’m not huge on taking online quizzes and that kind of thing anymore, but when I was browsing Ljcfyi today, I couldn’t resist discovering my Pantone birthday color.
To those out there that are not graphic design geeks, Pantone colors are basically a huge list of standard colors that designers use to ensure consistency in their printing. There’s a huge expensive book of all the pantone colors that you can buy, and match the colors to your own printing.
Anyhow, July 15th is the lovely Moonlite Mauve. I’m not as much impressed with the color (well, I do like pink). But the description is just soo weirdly accurate. It contains this sentence:
“You have an ability to gather information and relay it to others.”
I didn’t really realize that as one of my personal abilities, but it is indeed my profession. After that I just had to look and see how accurate some other people’s colors were. Most descriptions were pretty true, not entirely accurate all the time, but still lots of fun!
So, what’s your color?
It’s final – Oak and I will soon (move-in May 17) be living at Waterford Forest.
Can we say “yay” to – 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 walk-in closets, 2 outside storage things, 2 linen closets, and Oak’s favorite, a PANTRY ?! Oak Hollow has been good to us, but unfortunately we’ve accumulated too much stuff. Mostly the washer and dryer, which now take up the spot where our bikes used to be, so the bikes are now in the middle of the bedroom. Hotness? Not so much. But in a few short weeks, our bikes will be stored OUTSIDE where they’re supposed to be. DING.
Oh yeah, we also have a patio now. Perfect for outdoor dinner parties. We’re on ground level so we can take a grill outside too without violating serious fire codes. Hot.
I, personally, am looking forward to all the decorating that comes ahead. Planning, DREAMING, of what Ikea goodies we can buy once we’re all moved in. I know bar stools are a definite, but the other possibilities are endless, really. There’s a whole other bathroom that needs a motifa! Yeek!
I’ll no doubt get many hours entertainment out of the debating.
So, spring here is very strange. It doesn’t really exist, actually. It skips from 50 degree high to 80 degree highs. Don’t they know I need to wear my brightly colored spring jacket (Or, B.C.S.J., as Oak has termed it).
And oh, the pollen! Never have I seen the ground YELLOW from tree pollen everywhere. Our cars are also completely covered in the stuff. The best part is that I am allergic to pollen. Luckily I haven’t been too affected by it so far. It must be the one pollen I’m NOT allergic to.
So who has exciting weekend plans?

OK, I am in the middle of my lunch break, but I just had quite possibly the worst excuse for food in my life.
Last time Oak and I went grocery shopping, we some how ended up with an Atkins Advantage bar in one of our bags. Don’t know how it got there since we heart carbs way too much to go on that diet!
Anyway, it got packed in my lunch today, and I figured I’d give it a try. After all, it’s only low-carb, not low-calorie, so it can’t be all that bad right? Plus, it was chocolate and peanut butter! So, basically, I was expecting something along the lines of a nutty bar without cookie wafers inside.
SO WRONG. It was like a chemically piece of nuclear refuse. The peanut part didn’t even taste good! I could understand the chocolate, but peanut butter is like pure proteins, isn’t it? Why would someone waste 230 calories on this thing? A normal granola bar tastes much better and has like 150 calories.
I still fail to see the benefit of the Atkins diet. Especially if you’re forced to eat that food! ew.
And my real Nutty Bars are at home. *Sigh*
I am aggravated by the ridiculous number of “muscle-free” cleaning products that are out lately. Because doing the real task is SO hard.
First is the toilet scrubbers. I’m sorry, but cleaning the toilet bowl is so easy to begin with. you just squirt the stuff in there and brush it out. I’d say the “disgusting” part of cleaning the toilet is cleaning the outside parts.

Next is pretreating stains with the spin-brush of death. It’s like a huge electric toothbush that makes scrubbing stains so easy. I don’t know how many times I’ve said to Oak, “I just cannot scrub any more stains, my arm is SO SORE!”
If they want to make cleaning tasks easier, why don’t they come up with something that makes scrubbing the top of the stove easier? Because that is actually a difficult task. Hmmph!
So, I forget if I wrote that I had 3 cavities done a few weeks ago. So I know I don’t have cavities now. In the past year or so, though, it is unfortunate, but I have lost a tolerance for some sweet foods.

It’s mostly cheap chocolate that just makes my teeth hurt. And some chewy candies like taffy. SO weird. I had a cadbury creme egg, and the pain was enough to not make me want to eat another. It’s not like KILLIN pain (i.e. I will still eat chocolate. Come on now!), but it’s somewhat annoying.
However, expensive Belgian chocolate doesn’t do it. Isn’t that strange? (No, Oak, this is not a ploy to get some more Neuhaus.)
Instead of looking at this as a disadvantage, I suppose I should see it as a free diet plan to avoid eating excess amounts of Easter candy and shed the winter pounds for donning summer bikinis (ha!) Right?
Oak and I are obsessed with other people’s dogs. Drawn to smallish type puppy animals, we had way too much fun last weekend looking at pictures of Oscar de la Clarka the Pug.
We laugh every time we see that commercial for Zyrtec with the Boston Terrier named Baxter.
And of course, we always think of Baby Lu, who has a new bundle of brothers and sisters.
In the apartment complex we might be moving to, there is a “puppy play” area. Basically it’s a big yard fenced off so the dogs can run around and play without leashes. It is pretty damn cool. We decided perhaps we could go adopt some puppy friends from there. (Like go into the puppy play area, PRETEND we are just playing catch with each other, and then the dogs will come running to us! hahah riiiight ) But only if they are cute small dogs, of course.
For now we’ll settle for a couple of these McDonalds Happy Meal dogs. They even have a pug.
So, what to write.
I got my brightly colored spring jacket! It is a bright pink trenchcoat. It was even on sale at Old Navy. Ding! I have not seen anyone else wearing one of these coats yet. What is wrong with the world? Well, they are just not in on the secret!
What else. Work has been pretty dull. I would fall asleep typing anything about it. One aggravation I do have -every time I try to use the water cooler, I have to put a new bottle of water on it. That thing weighs like 50 pounds! People are so lazy. Arg.
I’m obsessed with HGTV. Especially Design on a Dime and Home to Go, because they feature apartment-worthy projects that don’t involve many serious changes to the rooms. Ding. I am even choosing these over Trading Spaces.. the 1-hour format of that show just drags I feel. Get the stupid room done already! haha.
I think that is all. We are going to Nag’s Head this weekend to visit with Shira and her family! That will be fun, a little “mini-break,” as Bridget Jones would say.
