Friday I was making copies for computer science 2 lab, on the “old” copier in the Amos Eaton building. I decided that copier has some serious issues, emotionally. First of all, it squeals uncontrollably sometimes while collating and stapling. (an obvious cry for attention) Its other favorite thing to do is to rock back and forth while making its copies. I’m not kidding, this 5 foot-long, 4 foot high machine literally moves, trying to escape its dingy little copy room home. I don’t blame it, if I had computer scientists shoving books and pieces of paper into me with database theory and algorithms on them constantly, I’d be angry too. It obviously needs to be fed a good graphic romance novel or a good tabloid magazine to mix up its life a bit.

But, alas, it is rumored that this copier is being replaced by a sexy new version that is networked and can be accessed remotely (saving clerical staff the trouble of converting everything to double-sided, stapled… professors can just print them that way right to the copier, hurrah). Isn’t that always the way? Nobody even feels sorry for the dejected copier. I hope my friend finds a way to overcome the emotional problems it has undergone from years of abuse.

In other mechanical and digital news, I’m printing to the VCC this evening. Please keep your fingers crossed that my stuff actually prints. For some reason people are sending the plotter 2 GB files. Is that really necessary?

Well, my stuff printed, but it did cut off the top and very bottom. So it looks like I didn’t put the credits/references on my poster. Ah well :) The glossy plotter just spooled it though – it never even came out that one! Sob.
