I’ve decided to occasionally share my illustrator fun with you in desktop wallpaper form. This one is inspired by my signature Lisa Frank folder and notebook. It has all these characters on it saying things like, “I’ve got a passion for fashion!” I know I know, only preteens are supposed to carry these kind of folders, but I really don’t care. It’s hot stuff.
Anyhow, you can download it in 800×600 or 1024×768. If you need a bigger resolution than those, let me know
I’m not sure what resolution most people are running at now.
I was sitting in Graphic Design for Corporate Identity yesterday, working on my logos, and all of a sudden people start freaking out.
We’re on the 4th floor of the building and a squirrel, yes, a squirrel is in the computer lab. It ran around the perimeter of the room on the wainscoting (or whatever it’s called) so it went right behind my computer! aye! I’m guessing it just wanted to get warm – he was probably as sick of the sub zero temperatures as we are!
Squirrels on this campus seem to be much bolder than usual. They don’t run away even if you are only a few feet from them; they also like to go in the garbage cans and eat things, scaring anyone who decides to throw something away. They also live under the air conditioners and sit and look in the windows of the buildings. In fact, I can see 2 gray squirrels right now in the office window.
Anyhow, I am really not that preoccupied with squirrels, I promise. I was walking to work this morning and I was like, gee it’s frickin’ hot outside! I didn’t even have a sweatshirt on under my peacoat and I was perfectly warm enough! It’s a whopping 23 degrees out there today, folks! Write that down in your record books
I absolutely love Reflect.com. When they were first starting, I ordered a custom lipstick, which was totally awesome. Then over the next year, I didn’t order anything, but received a reflect.com t-shirt and even orchids from 1800flowers.com thanking me for my purchase.
Since my first order, things have gotten a bit more expensive, but shopping the deals helps. I recently ordered a custom facial cleanser, and it arrived today.
I’m just a sucker for well designed packages. It came in a long aqua tube and each item (yes! I got samples!) was carefully wrapped in coordinating tissue paper.
I got green tea scented cleanser, as a result of this deal below (free shipping!). I haven’t used it yet but it smells delicious. Yum.
That sounded better in my head.. like “I’m not Josie Grossie anymore!” from Never Been Kissed. Can you tell I am sick of negative degree winter weather already? Figured I’d perk up my spirits.
There’s also a new splash page.
I’ve been trying to install the MTWeather plugin. Apparently the right Perl plugins are not on my server in order for it to work. So I thought, oh I’ll be tricky and use the JavaScript XML parser. But it seems only to work offline. I even tried Sablotron (php parser) but it didn’t want to cooperate with me either. Until I hear from my webhost I give up for the time being.
So I’ll just say here that it was -15 degree windchill today. At least it was sunny, it almost felt like summer when the sun was out!
And what’s that TrackBack thing?
Trackback is a feature in Movable Type that allows blogs to “talk” to each other. So if there’s a post you want to quote me on or something, you just click on the trackback link, copy that url, and then put it in the “URLs to ping” box on your new entry page. I’ve taken awhile to jump on this bandwagon, and I doubt anyone will actually trackback me, but hey it’s worth a shot. Yahoo!
In this frigid, dry winter weather, my straight as a poker hair is prone to fly aways. I discovered Head Wear Glam Rock Hair Polish at Walmart this week. It comes in a little pot with shimmery stuff inside that you just take a little glob of, rub it between your hands, and then smooth through your hair.
It not only controls static cling, it smells really lemony good and also, I feel, defines the ends of my haircut (this may or may not be a good thing depending on your last visit to the hairdresser!).
Plus, I think it was only around $2.50. Score!
Gee, I really need to make a new layout soon. Can we say uug-lee?
It did take me a limited amount of time, and it was funny for a few days, but yeah.. this has got to go. I should make it my goal for the weekend.
My Bloginality is an ISTJ, Intraverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. No Surpises there.
This just in, from weather.com:

Yes. No wonder my little toes feel all frost bitten. Sob. I’m going to turn on my heater and put my feet on top of it now.
I might as well face it – I am completely devoid of almost all athletic skills. I’ve discovered the sports I can do: swim, walk, and aerobicize. Most others, I haven’t had much luck with. Not so much. I do play a mediocre bowling game though. Oh yeah baby.
Today we went ice-skating! I must have been a humorous sight, wobbling about at approximately .52 mph. This stupid little snotty kid who was about 3 feet tall cut me off 5 times. Damn him. At least the Ice Guard dude did a big violent stop near the little kid and got ice all over him. Yahoo! Good punishment for his constantly making me nervous.
I didn’t even fall while skating (a result of my going .52 mph, mind you) but this kid ran straight into my back and would have knocked me over if Oak hadn’t been holding my hand at that point. My hero. *cheesy eyelash flutters*
I’m sitting here in class, quite bored because we are learning about hexadecimal colors and HTML (HELLOW!). It’s pretty sad when a sophomore/junior level class is teaching things I’ve known since high school. And no, I usually do not mess around during class, but I will definitely pass out on my desk if I don’t do something! I would try to find something else to take but our stupid student information system never works. Anyhow.
While thinking about wanting to sleep, I found this amazing Late Sleeper’s Bill of Rights. Rock on. I just enjoy getting 8 hours of sleep – today I wasn’t so lucky. Too bad I haven’t really mastered sleeping with my eyes open yet.
My first few days have been pretty uneventful. Good news is that I’ll be going to RTP next month for an interview/conference thing with the Software Group at IBM. Yahoo! Free travel, free Holiday Inn, and free food! Getting a job would be a nice bonus from this experience as well, I feel.
I listed 2 books on Amazon.com to sell on Monday, and they both sold already! The trick is to sell at the cheapest price, and of course, at the beginning of a school semester. Rock on dudes! $70 profit baby yeah! I bet I would have gotten like $10 if I had sold them back to the silly old bookstore. How rude.
I need to dust my room. I would like to rearrange my shelves too. But there is so many other things I should do instead of that. Maybe this weekend!
