I hate bad dreams! Sometimes they seem so real that I think they actually happened and I still feel mad at someone or upset about something when I wake up!
Last night we went to Home Depot and the China Buffet. Lup lup lup! Lucy is sitting on my lap while I am trying to type this.
I need to do my portfolio while I am home! And redesign this baby. That would be good. My new year’s resolution is, obviously, to find a job. Yes yes.
The dogs love to both fall asleep on top of me. At the same time. I’m addicted to Trading Spaces and all related television shows. I watch All My Children, and am totally confused because all the teenagers in the show are now in their twenties – and not because I haven’t watched in awhile! J.R. now has dark hair and went from 15 to 22 in just a few months. Strangeness.
My big fat suitcase takes up a good half of my room. I will be tripping over it forever more. And why are there so many cookies sitting around here? It’s evil, evil I tell you!
As promised, I am back from my travels!
Our cruise was fabulous. Oak and I are both really excited about getting SCUBA certified next semester. We mingled with old people (they love their cruises… I need to have them teach me to play the nickel slots). We ate gourmet meals with 4 different forks. We hiked through the jungle. We rode on tubes through Belizian caves. We hung out with some very cool striped fishies and held live starfish! We partied with the Mexicans. We sampled many kinds of Carribean beers. And tequilas.. and margaritas… I’m sure you can see where that’s going.
The whole cruise consensus: we really liked the days at port, being able to explore a new place each day. The days at sea, however, we felt were a little constricting – just because there isn’t many activities geared toward the young couple crowd. They had bingo and art auctions instead of say, a beirut tournament.
haha. We did get our butts kicked in Friends trivia, however. And we thought we would win for sure! (Laura, Queen of Friends Trivia, where are you when we need you?!) Next time we plan on as many ports of call as possible! Yaaahooo. I should have suggested the beirut tournament on our comment card. Damn it.
We have HUNDREDS of photos – digital and prints – from our trip. It might take me awhile to get them all organized into an album with appropriate commentary, but don’t you worry, it’s coming!
Christmas also rocked the house. Oak drove me back upstate and hung out for a day with the rents before he headed back home. He is desparately in love with my mom’s new chihuahua, Lucy… he said that she is now the most important woman in his life. Can we say “hhmmmmph!” to that?! haha.
I got all sorts of goodie goods for the holiday. I always forget to mention some things, but I think the most notables included a new white gold necklace, a hot black business suit (for many job interviews hopefully), 3 pairs of shoes (because you can NEVER have too many!!!! NEVER!), some assorted tops/bottoms, a Diva Star (because I refuse to grow up completely)… even the Ebay board game. RPI people, be ready to be solicited to battle me in auction!
Needless to say, I am a spoiled spoiled spoiled little brat. It was an awesome 2 weeks! Hopefully over break I will be motivated to get some designing done and get my portfolio ready too! We’ll see about that. Yes.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and to all a good night!!!
And I’ve been busy. Or something. I really don’t know, but something has been tearing me away from my computer lately. It could be the fact that my computer is also severely malfunctioning, making it a large pain to do just about anything. I digress.
Oak tried to outshop me on Tuesday. He almost did, dragging me around trying to find a forest green dress shirt. Not olive. Not mint. Not grass. Forest. It seemed that all the forest ones were by Ralph Lauren and cost like $45. Boo. I never realized how expensive guys’ dress clothes are. A shirt and tie cost about as much as a decent new dress would, and that’s not even with the coat and pants and whatnot. Though I suppose guys can get away with wearing these things on more than one occasion. I think the theory that women can only wear dresses once is so that people don’t get confused when looking at pictures of a special event.. “This one must be from Aunt Zelda’s 50th birthday, because I wore the pink chiffon, not the orange silk!” Whereas guys wear the same thing over and over. We’d look at photos and be totally confused as to when the events occurred all the time.
Anne and I went to get our hair cut yesterday! It was exciting. I haven’t had a decent haircut in quite awhile. We went to Rumors in Latham, where I also got a free chocolate bar for my first visit! Yahoo! I got like 4″ off the bottom and got an “edgy” look. Yay. We also got our eyebrows waxed. Mmm, pain!
Of course, I never can quite recreate the hairstyle the next day. I think it might help if I had the styling balm/lotion/whatever stuff she put on the ends to make them look spiky. I tried spray gel, but now the ends are just rocklike. Maybe I’ll have to invest in some of the lotiony stuff.
I’m starting to get a bit nervous about the cruise.. with all these active trips we have planned, I am bound to do something dumb at one point or another! “Belize tourist falls off of cave tube and swept underwater to be eaten by the ugly fish” … “Vicious horse throws inexperienced rider off to be left in the Mayan Jungle to decay with the ruins”… oh dear.. hehe
I really hope there aren’t ugly fish. This seems to be one of my large fears that hopefully I can conquer next week.
Really, Oak and I are quite excited! And don’t you worry, there will be many many pictures because Oak is taking, oh 15 cameras along with us. Hehe
What else, oh we are going with Anne and Dan to see some Christmas lights tonight!! yahoo!
I’ll be back to post from home around Christmas time!
When I was growing up, my grandmother (and then, after her passing, my aunt) always presented me with a chocolate-filled advent calendar on Thanksgiving. Then each day in December was accompanied by a tiny piece of milk chocolate, with the finale of the big chocolate Santa head on Christmas Eve. It cracks me up that I was able to find the exact advent calendars I remember getting over and over again on the web (there must be an advent calendar monopoly!).
Now, as we grow older and still crave the advent calendar, we have an online version! – filled with fun little snippets and links for each day from now till Christmas. I thought it was a cute idear!

I just had to share the awesome desktop I found at Pixel Decor. That site rocks. Also check out the tiled christmas ornament background! So hot.
Everyone seems to be struggling through their work this week, since it’s the end of the semester. I’ve definitely had it worse, so I really can’t complain. Just 2 silly presentations on Thursday and I’m all done. No finals. Yahoo. Yes, if you are reading this and have 8000 projects and 5 finals, you *can* kill me.
Oh, and be sure check out the family mobiles! They could be a festive home-made holiday gift!

My very creative family makes a “Christmas Craft” every year. As kids, we made things like cranberry and popcorn garlands, gumdrop christmas trees (mine broke! still trying to recover from that one), and many many variations on the reindeer christmas tree ornament.
We grew tired of the christmas themed crafts that we could only see once a year. So instead, this year we decided on decorative mobiles. We all went to Garden Ridge, which is basically a larger, Southern version of Michaels. While wandering the isles, we found a huge bag of tiny wood cut-outs. These became the key component of our project. We also obtained some wire from which to construct the hangers, and of course some tiny jewels and whatnot to adorn our modern sculptures.
After some experimentation, I found the following the best method of construction….
Gobble gobble gobble.
Sorry for not writing earlier, I’m sure so many of you have visited many many times anticipating my next update (well, I can pretend at least!)
So my family went to visit my U.T. (Uncle Tim… he started calling himself this in emails because he didn’t want to type his name out and it kind of stuck!) and A.L. (Aunt Lynda… so she would match with UT!) in Concord, NC. Our travels there were very interesting. Our Jack Russell Terrier, Spike, was a *tad* excited about riding in the car… just picture that commercial for the Bissell with the dog that is bouncing up and down everywhere – that is basically Spike in a nutshell.
The funniest part of the car trip was when we were very close to being there, I had to go to the bathroom. Badly. If I would have been standing up I would have been doing the “gotta go” dance. And of course, since we were going along city streets Spike was VERY excited and trying to jump up towards the windows so he could sniff. At one point, he decided to stand on my already-in-agony belly, to which I yelled, “SPIKE GET OFF MY URINARY TRACT!” I’m not sure I really find this humorous, but my family did. In fact, they seem to think that I am really quite funny. They obviously have a strange sense of humor.. hehe.
We had a lot of yummy food last week. I finally had some authentic southern BBQ, which we were too afraid to get over the summer. Also my first portabello sandwich at Jillians, which was much fancier than the one in Albany! (bowling alleys AND SKIBALL!) And an exotic raspberry chai latte. Lup lup lup! And that’s not even mentioning the turkey. My cousin Tim especially enjoys the “Jello” (what he called cranberry sauce outta the can as a kiddie).
I also made lots of new animal friends. There’s my Aunt’s bunnies, Bo and Frances (Frances has a serious attitude, she stomps her leg when she’s pissed off!) – and then my mommy’s new chihuahua, Lucy! She is 2 pounds of puppy love. A little rat/dog/cat thing, so ugly she is cute. I’ll have to post pictures sometime soon.
We also had our times of serious creativity. We made colorful mobiles and went to music stores to fuel our musical talents. However, I noticed a serious lack in any groovy accessories or music for clarinet. Well, there was one book that contained “Born to Be Wild”… “We Will Rock You”.. etc.. but for some reason I feel that the clarinet would take any coolness right outta those songs. haha
It’s wrong, just wrong I tell you! I spent the rest of the week threatening to play boring Etudes. And Opuses (Opii?). And English Suites. And Symphonies. Etc. Etc.
Needless to say, I am tired from all this action. But it is the last week of classes, which is always quite busy. Fooey. Must muster up the energy somehow!
