It’s time to choose courses for my last semester at RPI. I register next week! Here’s a selection of the classes I’m considering:

I am definitely taking:

  • COMM 4961 - Graphic Design for Corporate Identity (MR 2-3:50 pm)
  • COMM 4180- Studio Design in Human Computer Interaction (T 6-9:50)
  • Some possibilities:

  • ARTS 2030 – Net Art (MR 10-11:50 or TF 12-1:50)
  • COMM 4690 – Introduction to Hypermedia Computing (TF 2-3:50)
  • ARTS 2210 – Sculpture (MR 12-1:50 or 2-3:50)
  • ARTS 1200 – Basic Drawing (TF 10-11:50 or 12-1:50) – can’t register for that until after 12/16, if there are spots left
  • Whee. I have to make decisions soon. Leave a little ‘ol comment if you have experienced any of these fine courses or are addressing the same registration concerns that I am. Haha. Thank you!

I had a lovely weekend at home. It’s nice to have a change of scenery every once in awhile! I drove home on Friday night, to leave poor Greenlee there since her insurance runs out soon. The drive was pretty much uneventful, except it started to rain a bit on the way. None of the Dunkin’ Donuts on the way seemed to have Chai Lattes. I guess I should have asked, but they were definitely not on the menu.

On Saturday I went to S&A Boutique with my mom to help her find stuff for her Halloween costume. Haha. We also went to Walmart and (surprise!) Dunkin’ Donuts. I think I got a special deal from the guy at DD because I got a huge coffee, a coffee coolata, and 2 donuts for $5. Maybe there was some kind of special goin’ on. I’m not sure :) haha. My mommy also made me stuffed peppers. I am too obsessed with peppers. Hehe. And Trading Spaces. Luckily I got my fix of both while I was home :)

My train ride back to RPI was very nice because it wasn’t very crowded and it was one of the nice Express trains with blue interiors. They have lots of legroom unlike the ghetto orange interior ones which also seem to have a heating problem. Anyway, I got off the train and was thorougly confused. I got off onto a PLATFORM! It was like I was on another planet or something.

Not stairs. There was one of those huge stairway things that goes over the tracks instead of the little cement pathway that was there before. For a few seconds I was sure I had gotten off at the wrong stop but then I remembered they were talking about building a new station in Albany. I didn’t realize it had actually opened. I walked around bewildered for a bit, until I finally found the conquest (concorde?) area or whatever it’s called, and crossed my fingers that I would be found! haha.

Anyway, the new station is huge and really really nice. It has coffee shops and news stands and all this other fancy jazz. And I thought Amtrak was going bankrupt. They really need to do the same thing in Rochester, because the station there is worse than the old one in Albany.

Happy Birthday to Karen, my work-study boss Chris, and my high school friend Sarah! October 28th is a big day for birthdays I guess! :)

I forgot to mention that I recently received my ebay scores of the month in the mail! My new clarinet, a BUFFET (how prestigious, modeled after the professional R-13 model — wooey) plays quite nicely. It isn’t falling apart, which I find a nice feature. Nice to know that a random part won’t just fall off at any time.

I also got a pair of sandals for hiking in the carribean wilderness. (Actually for “cave tubing” but apparently that involves some hiking as well) None of my sandals seemed appropriate for this. I wanted to get some Teva sandals, but those were way too expensive considering the fact that I would probably never wear them except for this one time… so I won some green and black Timberland sandals on ebay for $3. Yeah baby.

My next purchase: the Ebay patch. I need to wean myself off for awhile until I have money to spend again!

And oh yes, I need to come up with a name for my new clarinet. My old clarinet was named Juan because pieces were always falling off of him.. I don’t know, something exotic and exciting is definitely needed for the new baby! Leave suggestions!

It actually SNOWED here this morning. I had to zip the sleeves back onto my winter jacket (it magically turns into a vest! wohoo!).

I am not ready for cold weather. It should be eternally summer, then suddenly a winter wonderland for Christmas, and then suddenly summer again. That would rock. :)

It was another fun weekend. Saturday night was Nite on the Nile – one of the biggest parties of the year at RPI (and its only toga party). Of course much work went into getting the perfect togas – I had a fall theme with orange fabric with tiny little leaves on it and a leaf garland for my head.

We finally discovered the secret of good girl togas that don’t fall off every 2 seconds – to use sarong wrapping techniques! I made the “Mesa Dress” which is all the way at the bottom. It still looked pretty toga-ish and stayed on with no problem! (Plus on the walk to the party it make a good coat)

Of course, when at an Egyptian-themed party, you must do as the Egyptians did.. the party featured a “waterfall” and the “nile river” outside, and indoors was a “feeding pool” that contained 500 tiny goldfish. Over the course of the evening, the number of goldfish in the pool greatly decreased. I will leave it to your great minds to imagine what happened to them (silly “college kids”.. )

Now I have 3 yards of very orange fabric and a very long leaf garland.. any craft ideas?? :)

I’ve always wondered why my shoes only serve one function. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could play with your shoe in class? Just unbuckle that baby and the games begin! Hopefully your feet are not too stinky. And if the professor asks what’s going on, you can just say something like.. sorry, I was just scratching my foot!

However, I’m not exactly sure how easy it would be to walk around campus with these on. I consider myself a fan of the platform shoe, but 6 inches might be a little excessive, don’t you agree?

Autumn has arrived in full force. Frigid rain and changing leaves. I had a battle with my umbrella this morning, the wind caught it and almost carried me down to the depths of the little area between the DCC and JEC. (the lecture hall building, and the engineering building for non RPI-ites) I did, however, note Laura’s favorite tree today. It has extremely orange leaves. It is really quite hot. I guess I really don’t pay attention to nature much, I should do that more in the future.

Either way, I was happy to get home and make some chicken soup and crank up the heat in my room. Now it’s time to take a hot shower and get rid of these cold bones :)

Upgraded to Movable Type 2.5 (had one problem, was easy enough to fix with a simple net search!). I also joined Wander Lust, which is basically just a new way to find new weblogs. So tricky, my weblog now pings their site whenever I update.

I wish I had some energy and motivation to make a new design. I’m feeling rather lazy and uninspired lately. Hopefully that will change soon.
