Went to Carowinds yesterday for some amusement park madness. The best ride was the Nickelodeon water-soaked coaster – you go through water and blast people with water from below, yes it’s fun stuff, especially in 90 degree weather! Also saw Life House. They were okay, I wasn’t terribly impressed, but it was worth the money. We had good seats.
Today I did a lot of lounging around. It was great.
I have started to pack for the big move back to NY. It feels like I move so much, it will be good to not have to pack everything up 3 times a year soon!
I could spend hours browsing the Fashion Police. You would think with unlimited money and designers on their side, celebrities would be able to dress themselves. Perhaps not.
OK, maybe that title is a little over-dramatic.
Went shopping at walmart yesterday for shampoo and bathroom cleaner (what an exciting life I do lead..) Let me tell you, it was madness.
Tried getting some super glue in the school supply isle. Not a good idea. “Mom! I need a 2-pocket 3 ring notebook! ” 15 shopping carts in one row is not a good idea either. “Dad! I want the notebook with Harry Potter on it, not that boring one!” and of course the occasional friendly Wal*Mart employee saying, “Well, does the list say a three PRONG notebook or a three RING notebook?”
Apparently school starts on Monday for North Carolinians.
While pushing through the aisles with my oversized shopping vehicle, avoiding several head -on accidents along the way, I managed to see a certain group of junior high-ish girls running by about five or six times.
They were all toting little packets of false eyelashes. Not the kind that you wear on Halloween, the real kind, like the kind Tammie Fae Baker wears. And that seemed to be their only purchase. In the hardware department, they run by… “Oh my god you got false eyelashes too!? What a coincidence!”
They are obviously the must-have item for back to school. It’s a good thing I did my research ahead of time or I would have looked like a TOTAL dork when going back to RPI in a few weeks!
We haven’t updated this in forever and half! I am very excited about our trip to IKEA in Woodbridge, VA on our way home from NC!
I hope to get some classy new posters for my bedroom. Hopefully they will fit in the car! aye!
I noticed that lots of women at IBM have these little suitcase-type things on rollers that they use to carry their stuff (laptops I guess?) around in. I see someone going in or coming out with one every day, and it really confuses me. It isn’t any bigger than a backpack so couldn’t they just … carry it?
In high school, I always had this huge backpack filled with every single book in my locker some nights – and I remember, that AP Bio book was a doozy. I actually weighed my bag once and it was 30 pounds! Plus, it was so not cool to carry your bag on both shoulders, plus I always had my clarinet case to haul around too. No wonder I fell on ice so much in high school! I needed one of those little roller suitcase things to carry my stuff with! (though I am sure I would have been quite the laughingstock with that baby!)
Then in college, it was suddenly acceptable to wear both straps of the backpack. In fact, wearing only one strap is socially unacceptable, unless you have one of those wraparound-backpack things, which make no sense to me. Goodbye circulation!
The best part is that as the degree of acceptable “dorky” bag-carrying increases, the amount of stuff I actually have to carry around decreases. At college, it might be my laptop and one text book, which is under 10 pounds. Work, what the heck, all I need is my purse, water bottle and some CDs. Like I really need a suitcase for that. arg. I think they should just reverse this whole baggage trend – burdened high schoolers should be able to have the suitcases!
Hello hello. Just posting my fall schedule for anyone who is looking for classes to take still! I don’t know about this whole 8am thing, though, so I consider this completely tentative and subject to change. Not to mention that 10 hours of workstudy also have to fit in here, and some aerobics classes of some sort. wohoo
Gee, I have forgotten that I am a victim of the magic of infomercials. I have been a proud owner of Hair Dini (well until Shira’s dog ate it), Topsy Tail, a ghetto version of the Ronco Food Dehydrator, and of course the Lean Mean Grilling Machine.
Now I’m watching the amazing turbo cooker commercial. Amazing chicken and dumplings in 8 minutes! Pizza in only 3 minutes, with no oil, always water! This is healthy food! Let’s add some brownies on the stack rack, together with some grilled salmon, ready to eat in only 7 minutes! Never any “flavor exchange” in the turbo cooker! I love how the host looks like he is going to die every time he tries some food. For only 3 easy payments of $19.99!! Wow. That commercial made me really hungry.
I wish I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I “grow up” and the exact path to take to get to that. Instead, I have no idea what’s going on! Priscilla at work showed us this career choosing test in which your prespective careers are chosen by colors that you choose.
