Okay so apparently Greenlee (the actress from All My Children, not my lovely green Ford Escort) knits! I just found this entertaining. I can only imagine actors/actresses as his/her character at times, and I certainly don’t see Greenlee digging out the knitting needles – rather she would be “Oh my god! That’s not from Gucci? Shoot me!”

1. How long have you had a weblog?
Well my beginning online journal was at my very cheesy old website, in April 1999. I started in with blogger in June 2000. So depending which you would count, either 2 or 3 years I have been blogging my little heart out.
2. What was your first post about?
Complaining about choosing a college. I remember having to update that page during computer lab hours at school since we didn’t always have web access at home.
3. How many changes (name, location, etc.) of your weblog have there been, if more than one?
The original was on Geocities, then blogger with my school account, and now my own domain.
4. What CMS (content management system) do you use? Do you like it or do you want to try something else?
I’m with all the cool kids with Movable Type, though I have used Greymatter, Blogger, and Diaryland in the past. (I’ve never used LiveJournal or Pitas) Movable Type is nice since my weblog is getting huge (over 500 entries now.) Plus it has the best GUI and I can host multiple weblogs off of it. I haven’t had too much trouble installing it like other people have.
5. Do you read people who have both a journal and a weblog? Or do you prefer to read people who have all of their writing in one central place?
I pretty much like it when people mix all their content together. There are a few I read religiously, and others that I visit just once in awhile.

Don’t know what a weblog is? You may have one and not even know it, check out the history. I find it so surprising that there are books and things coming out on blogging this year. I have a feeling that one day school children will be reading about “the blogging generation” much like we read about the free spirits of the sixties.

Interesting things I would never have known about without the internet: Lomography and Letterboxing. I think now when I retire I’ll travel across the country searching for letterboxes and documenting my trip with my very groovy Lomo camera (I’ll be practically a professional by then after practicing with this baby.)

Haha, though I was never very good at scavenger hunting, but maybe I will be when I’m 65 (or whatever age my generation will be able to retire). We’ll see.

I forgot to mention that Dan bought that nasty-lookin’ purple ketchup. (Although purple IS my favorite color!) I tried it at dinner, and though it tasted just like normal ketchup (except with “added vitamin C”), it made me a little weary to dip my french fry into something that looked suspiciously like the purple stencil paint we used to have in our craft kit. Needless to say, I’m glad Anne was ambitious enough to bring the regular stuff. Any purple/green ketchup fans out there?

Just got Movable Type upgraded to use mySQL database! How cool is that, it should be more efficient and now I am using the database stuff provided by my webspace! Just wait, the front page of carrievision is also going to be PHP-powered soon. I would just like to say how much I love people for writing all these things I want to do – I always think, gee I should write a script to do <insert clever idea here>, and lo and behold, someone has done it already. Ding.

Okay, in protest to Futurama being cancelled, who wants to dress up as a character from Futurama with me for Halloween? I was planning on Leela, but I’m not sure anyone would know what I was without the rest of the gang around. Act quick to join the cast!!!!!

Okay, in this entry I’m going to complain – many of you have already heard about this saga ( just listed everyone in my head and decided have been bitching way too much) so I encourage you not to read on, as you are probably sick of hearing about this dumb thing, I am sick of talking about it! I just really want to use this entry for revenge, perhaps WetSeal executive or Better Business bureau will read my store and be oh-so-sympathetic.

I bought these very hot sandals at Wetseal on, oh, July 5th I think. I wore them to work and out shopping, that’s about all (not even every day, probably 5-6 times over the course of 2 weeks). Anyhow, I was disappointed to find a HOLE in the sole of the shoe worn through to the inside on Sunday. So yesterday I decided, oh I will just take them back to the store, they’ll give me store credit or something because their product is obviously defective, right?

So I go in and explain, with the shoes and the box they came in, and the receipt, to the manager. She said, “There’s nothing I can do about this, we don’t return worn merchandise.” I said something to the tune of never coming to the store again, and she was like, “Ok I understand.” HELLO! You are losing a customer here! And now I am stuck with a $30 pair of sandals that are damaged already! Ugh.

My solution is to write several strongly-worded letters, and hopefully get a refund or coupon of some sort! I’d even send them the frickin’ shoes if it wasn’t going to cost $6. Though I used to love Wet Seal, I’m not sure I can go back there again. A clothing item could fall apart in one day and they wouldn’t return it! I think that is ridiculous.

I also was putting a bandaid on my knee last night and I opened one of them and there was no bandage part on it, only sticky stuff! I think I am going to become just like my French teacher, who always used to tell us her tales of consumerism gone bad and how she would get coupons and stuff for writing complaints. Yeah, that’s me. LOL :)

When endeavoring to find a scrumpscious, semi-healthy and satisfying dessert–try Edy’s new Whole Fruit Sorbet! Each fruity flavor is supremely packed with real fruit flavor and richly delicious (and bonus: they’re naturally fat free)!!

Pardon my “Tommy” quote, I have just been thinking of that song since it has “21″ in it. Anyhow, I’m sorry for not updating, but the past week or so has been filled with so many wonderful things I just couldn’t get around to putting everything down on here. So I am going to try to get it all done in one swoop. Ready?

Last Saturday, my North Carolinian RPI buddies Anne and Dan threw me a 21st birthday-tropical themed extravaganza! Some of the co-ops/interns from work came and we had a jolly good time, especially arguing over the rules of Asshole and trying to make balloon hats. We ended the evening with a rousing game of glowing miniature golf, which was quite possibly one of the most challenging courses ever. Maybe it was because of all the dark shadows and real sand traps. Several times we just wrote down “6″ on the score card out of true frustration! I won, somehow, though I think it was a error in score keeping just to satisfy the birthday girl.

As if this were not enough, my man came to visit on my actual birthday! He also sent flowers to my office, and my boss came over with them, and it was all very exciting! (Reminds me of Bridget Jones, when one is tempted to send flowers to one’s self in order to get attention. But no I did not have to do that at all!) We also had cake at our department meeting (who cares if it was 10am!).

We went to Firebirds Rocky Mountain Grill at Streets at Southpoint, where I got NY Strip Delmonico. It was good and spicy, and I had my first “legal” drink (red wine of some sort, the name escapes me now), however was not carded. Hopefully I do not suddenly look 30 years old!

Oak came bearing many wonderful gifts, especially something sparkly for my ears!! My mom freaked out about this issue, saying something to the tune of, “Those are huge! I don’t even have diamond earrings yet!” Mu ha ha. He also brought preparations for my favorite, Bloody Maries – and a box of Belgian chocolate, the kind I obsessed about in March. Yummy! :-D

Then Oak and I went on a “mini-break” (can’t avoid the Bridget Jones vocabulary, sorry) to Myrtle Beach! It was fabulous! We camped right on the ocean, and spent many hours swimming in the warm summer water.

We also checked out the “strip”, and we had dinner at Broadway on the Beach at Liberty Steak House. Was very delicious. This place is nice because you get the beeper thing when you have to wait, but there is enough stuff to walk around and look at that it really isn’t that bad. The coolest part of this was the salt water taffy shop, where they had a taffy puller going, and a guy who was putting the taffy through a special machine that sucks the long strip of taffy in and chops it into perfect pieces and wraps them. He would throw pieces of taffy out to people while they were walking in. Of course we got some of each flavor, seeing that it is homemade and not the crappy kind that was boxed in Taiwan or something.

The next day we had breakfast at K&W Cafeteria, Oak’s favorite southern fare. We went to Ripley’s Aquarium, which was pretty cool. There’s this big tunnel you go through on a people-mover type thing and sharks and all sorts of creepy sea creatures swim right over your head. Also got to pet sting rays and hold a horseshoe crab! Was very fun except I fell and scraped my knee, which was a little bit of a bummer. I wish you could buy coordination!

On the way home we discovered a new piece of roadside America – Sparky’s! We went to South of the Border on the way down, and then on the way back we kept noticing these billboards for “Exotic Nuts” and “Tasty Syrup” and “Fireworks” and “Discount Cigarettes” and “Ninja Weapons” (I am not joking) advertised by this funny-lookin’ dog with googly eyes and neon colors everywhere. Of course, we had to stop to see the deal with the exotic nuts. Was another cheese capital of America! I think we should have bought a ninja sword as a souvenir of this experience. Ah well, we will just have to go back!

It was hard to face reality after all this fun! I was very sad when I had to take Oak to the airport and say goodbye! Ugh, why can’t we just always be on vacation, huh? :-D Well that was my very very eventful week! I’m off to spend my birthday card at Wal*Mart! :-)

Was just watching the Simpsons episode where Marge gets her own pretzel company, and her first big order is from Batavia, NY! I think that is hilarious, it’s 2 towns over from where I grew up, and certainly not a world metropolis.
