Oh man, on my trip to the library tonight I found a copy of the original cake mix doctor! We have some devils food cake mix so I picked that baby right up! :-) As you know Shira, that book is quite possibly one of the world’s best creations for the dessert world! lol :)

I made my necessary pilgrimage to Cary Public Library today. Reminded me of my good ‘ol days as a student page at WML. I used to so have the Dewey Decimal System memorized but today I had to picture where, for example, in WML where the cookbooks were and then figure out what numbers it was. (Okay! So the cookbooks were near the front window underneath that plant that always leaked when we watered it! Ah hah!… 600s!) Anyhow, I found some good stuff that may or may not be interesting to read. Next time I go back I hope to get some fiction.. any recommendations?

I made some tasty mashed potatos tonight, to go with my little brother Seth’s BBQed porkchops. I just added 3 slices of that gross pre-wrapped individually sliced American cheese (I know, I know–not up to par, but we were all out of Velveeta AND Cheddar), 3 tbsp light sour cream, 3 cloves of garlic-smashed up, 3 tbsp cream cheese, 1tbsp butter, 3tbsp heavy cream and some milk. Ding! They came out quite delish, if I do say so myself. Not so healthy, but darn tasty!

It’s been an exciting weekend! Highly competitive games of mini golf and disco bowling tested my athletic skills to their fullest! Not to mention a wonderful trip to Waffle House.. what a true southern experience that was! A waitress with no teeth and very “enthusiastic” cooks and workers in general. It’s like Denny’s except more special! If that’s really possible. I had a hash brown and it cost $2! Deal of the day! Now it is time for some serious grocery shopping! Do I lead a rebellious lifestyle or what? ;-)

So today was my first at That Big Computer Company. I’m probably not going to be writing much about it here since it’s probably best to keep this stuff offline. But, today we got to fill out all the good “getting paid” paperwork and set up our brand-new (YES!) workstations. They are black and tres stylish! (Though I have a Sun monitor – I didn’t realize that was even allowed!) I suppose I’m figuring out what I’m doing all summer tomorrow. So far it’s fabulous, lots of very fun and nice people, not what you might expect from a big corporation at all (though I suppose all the stuffy people work in the “corporate” division with the head honchos). It’s a short commute from Legends, only half an hour or so during the rush hour traffic. (10 minutes without it!). That’s about all! Then we had pork chops for dinner! LUP!

The Season Finale of Friends was like an episode of All My Children, leaving the characters in the middle of doing something important with dumb looks on their faces. Except with AMC you find out what happens tomorrow. I have to wait until fall with Friends! Bah! >:-0

I decided to begin to get rid of the Pasty Legs ™ that the New York winter has given me. So this afternoon I decided to read some Vanity Fair by the pool. I had an enjoyable time listening to this guy boast about how he was a body builder “back in the day” at least 3 times. (heh, he was in to body building and “totally pumped” back in the mid eighties). The Pool People were very tan, I must admit. Though I wonder why they were there in the middle of the day on a Thursday. Mysterious. Anyway, I don’t think I’m any less pasty yet.

I decided that I need to start keeping track of whenever I hurt myself because I always have these bruises that I don’t know the origin of. Right now there is a big one on my leg, but do I remember screaming in agony at any point? Not so much. I think I’m just an easy bruiser – freshman year I had bruises on my forearms from them resting on the corner of my desk. So yes, coming soon at carrievision.com.. BooBoo Log!

Sorry for my lack of online presence for the past few days – but as many of you probably know, I was making my big move to North Carolina! This place seems too good to be true and I am still really trying to absorb it all. I have a huge bedroom with a walk-in closet, my own bathroom, a balcony.. I mean really what else could I ask for? (Additional noted features from the brochure that Anne and I found amusing: decorative plant ledges and our “cocktail table”).

And yes, it does look like what it’s supposed to. Our balcony has a direct view of a putting green on the golf course, and two big sand traps. My current favorite balcony past time is watching frustrated golfers getting their balls out of the sand trap and grooming the trap back to perfection. Also they really like to zoom along on their little golf cart babies!

Greenlee and I have also been having tons of fun exploring the Triangle. I admit we (Greenlee and I.. lol) got lost a few times, but not lost enough to not know where I was at all! Apparently Chapel Hill Rd crosses Maynard Rd. in two spots! Hrm, whatever! I don’t exactly have THE greatest sense of direction even though I always seem to be stuck with the role of “navigator” on trips (I guess because I’m not usually driving).

Anyhow, Greenlee and I made it to Walmart, Dollar Tree (yahoo!!), Cary Towne Center, and a grocery store called Harris Teeter. The Food Lion that is close by is extremely ghetto nasty (reminds me of Bells and Super Duper for any LeRoyans out there, or Ghetto Chopper for the RPI folks!). I think it was worth the scenic route to get some higher quality groceries! lol.

I must admit, living alone is quite scary. I don’t know anyone here so much and my roommate doesn’t come until Friday morning. Now that I have the internet I feel MUCH better. (I’m such an addict).

As soon as I can get some pictures posted, I promise I will! I should finish up my roll of film and get those babies developed to CD! Yes, sounds like a plan! :-D

I’m totally lacking in any motivation at this point. Now I just want to spend lots and lots of time with Oak and avoid studying at any cost. Not that I don’t love studying database systems! Today I read in the book the following nicely worded sentences:

“… was a DBMS used in the olden days.” (Olden Days? Like Pioneers? Pilgrims?)

“A fuzzy dump is a dump taken when the system is operating.” (mm DUMP!)

At least it provided some amusement. Might I also mention how ridiculous car insurance is? State Farm wouldn’t even give me a quote! BITE ME! It seems ridiculous that they wouldn’t even try to give me a ridiculously expensive quote just to take my money. Whatever!

There have been some complications regarding my update to Movable Type 2.11. If you encounter any please let me know! My poor online buddy Karen seemed to encounter all of them in the weblog I’m hosting for her. hehe.

To celebrate having 500 weblog entries here at Carrievision.com, go play the most useful thing on the internet, online beer pong. As if people didn’t waste enough time playing that already.
