The hotness of this 1950s reproduction kitchen furniture just kills me! I want a kitchen to put this stuff in! I can just imagine it with my pink flamingo collection from when I was a preteen. I’m sure it would sizzle (though I’m not sure pink flamingos are the best idear for kitchen decor.. oh well.)
This weekend started out being very fun and happy, and progressed downwards as the days went on.
Friday night was dinner at Holmes and Watson with Shira. A good time was had by all, though I’m still a little afraid of their “mayonnaise with horseradish” sauce. I suppose it was tasty in general, I really enjoyed the waffle french fries.
Saturday night was a very large event – Oak pinned me! I cannot disclose further information, but it was very exciting and romantic! The party afterwards was a good time for all (at least from what I remember… which may be flawed … reasons for this also not disclosed.. hehe). I get to choose my letters at United Greeks sometime soon. I’m considering a purple shirt with light blue or lilac letters, but I’m not sure yet!
Decisions, Decisions!
From this high level of fun, my fun level dropped dramatically (just like a Sim..) on Sunday and Monday. Sunday was reading Database Systems the whole day, Monday I spent a good 10 hours working on the homework that was due today. And it wasn’t like I hadn’t started it before. Like an exhausted Sim I passed out right after completing the work (well… guessing on the last problems, making some stuff up.. you know..). It appears my fun level is going to stay pretty low since I also have a test in Database Systems this Friday. I am going to have to play some serious Monkeyball or go to a party or watch 18 episodes of Trading Spaces this weekend to make up for that!
I’m 46% addicted to AIM. I’m surprised this isn’t more. I think it helps that I never have a million stupid quotes in my profile, or else it would have been way higher.
Ever wonder about how many Valentines are exchanged between elementary school students in the US? Ah, Valentines. It’s not my favorite holiday ever, but I do enjoy chocolate. Mm, chocolate!
I was able to test Juan today. His emergency surgery was successful, our pad installation close to professional quality. Yahoo.
Today in Technical Communication we had to rewrite some instructions on how to make a hat out of a piece of newspaper. Now these instructions just don’t cut it. Neither my partner nor I could get past the Napoleon style hat (which is really really simple.. it looks like a freaking boat!). But if you can send me a picture of yourself wearing one of these homemade hats, I would be sure to applaud you. And put your picture up here, of course. haha.
According to the weather, the temperature today “feels like” 9 degrees Fahrenheit. It definitely felt colder than that. It definitely felt like Antarctica out there today. It was very hard to haul myself out of warm buildings and across campus 6 times today. The winter blues must have set in because I really don’t feel like doing much of anything at all! Shame on me.

While at the mall today, we had fun trying on prom gowns for no apparent reason. It was such a pleasant reminder of the pastel madness that I had the glory of going through for senior ball… the shouts of… “aia! My head is stuck in the ribbon back of the dress!” …. “can you zip me please?” … “OK so my boobs are NOT going to fit in that dress!”… “THIS DRESS WAS MADE FOR A 12 YEAR OLD!!”… and everyone’s favorite, “I can’t get it off!!!” It all makes me think that prom dresses are really a form of medieval torture. I mean really and truly, in a perfect world every dress would fit every person! I tried on approximately 20 dresses today in my normal size, of which about 3 actually zipped up and looked decent. I also noticed that some of the dresses out do not properly sew in the plastic “boning” in corset-type bodices.. man it would be great to have a strip of plastic digging into my stomach all evening long! Buyers beware!
Today was full of somewhat exciting events. I decided to write my technical description paper on my Magic Chef Food Dehydrator. Technical descriptions are difficult because you have to write things like, “each tray is 13″ in diameter with concentric slatting.” Exciting stuff! I find it highly amusing I’m writing this much about a food dehydrator. I just love that I can write an away message that says, “Sorry I’m busy thinking about food dehydration at this moment. Leave a Message!”
I practiced my clarinet earlier today to find that suddenly my low C# and high G# were not coming out right. For those of you who are not familiar with Juan, my faithful instrument, he is a vintage student clarinet. I’m guessing he’s around 30 years old or so. Even with my 8 years of serious playing he has never had a major overhaul, just things replaced as they broke or fell off. So it was not much of a surprise that one dinky little pad was falling off of him this afternoon. Luckily roommate Laura has a clarinet repair kit! We gave Juan some emergency surgery (i.e., replaced the fallen off pad with a new one with the help of some superglue), and hopefully he will be back in playing condition soon. As faithful as Juan has been to me (surviving several drops during marching band seasons, abused by me eating food and playing at the same time… the list goes on..), I’m beginning to think he needs to be replaced.
We took the CDTA bus to Colonie Center today to finish Valentines day shopping. A woman came on with sweatpants on that said “I love me” right across the butt. Her butt was not exactly miniscule either. I wonder why people are toting messages on the seat of their pants these days. What is up with that?
I was about to post a picture on here, but to my dismay my scanner seems to be incompatible with Win 2k. I downloaded the Win2k drivers to no avail. The software drivers do not seem to want to communicate with the hardware for some reason.
Well poo on you, UMAX Astra 3400! And by the way, I’m highly doubting this is the 3400th model of scanner that UMAX has produced. Why do they do that? Shouldn’t win2k be more like Windows NT 6 or something? I guess naming something a thousand-something makes it sound more impressive and futuristic.
On that note, I’m renaming my website.. welcome to Carrievision.com 405050! Free of Nimbus 2000s and 2000 Odysseys, guaranteed!

As you might remember from my last jaunt to Ikea, I had quite the experience! (see scrapbook too!) Here are some
tips for those of you that might be going to Ikea in the near future. My next visit will be quite likely in the distant future. However, Toronto recently opened its third Ikea store. (But can they open one in Buffalo? Rochester? Albany? or even Syracuse?) hmph.
