During symphonic band rehearsal we heard a large droning coming from the basement. Very Very Loudly. Sounded like about 30 vaccuum cleaners turned on in unison. However, this guess was wrong, it was an artistic installation.
Very Long notes (we’re not talkin’ whole notes here… we’re talking more like 10 minutes of the same note) with pictures of Asian field workers on a projection screen. I interpreted this is as the monotony of a human work life. So deep. So emotional. Reminds me of when I did a presentation on “contemporary” music in my Music Theory class in high school. I never did, however, think I would see one of these “happenings” in actual life. Well, now I have, even if it was only for 2 minutes.
Moved my scrapbook over to movable type format. Woot. You can leave comments on the pages now! I’ve left comments on the pages as well, so even if you’ve seen the pages before you might want to take another looksie. Once my scanner is working again I’ll add more of the pages I’ve done.
Why, lookie here, it’s my class ring. So expensivo. Even silver is $285, and I have a way of tarnishing silver with my skin. Ah well, perhaps someday when I’m rich!
Why, in February are there days like this – days when you can go out without 10 layers of clothing and a heavy coat? Days when it’s 50 outside and people begin to gather in the quad to play football/frisbee/baseball make me so optimistic that spring is coming. Reality beckons. March is a cold, nasty month, usually filled with at least one snowstorm. Shame on you, Mother Nature, for making us believe that Spring has come!
My days have seemed very busy and planned out lately. This is problematic because I’m a big fan of the mid-afternoon nap. This is impossible when I have, oh half an hour in between activities to eat a meal.. and that’s it. I’ve been left incredibly lazy once evening time comes around. I think it’s just general School Burnout ™.
I have a million of those chalky, disgusting Valentine’s day conversation hearts and I’m trying to think of something to make out of them. Mon dieu.
I’m beginning to wonder how to become one of those famous web people. You know, the sites that just about everyone links by default? How do I become the next Claire? Daniel? Jack? Shauny?
By the looks of things, it helps if you’re Australian. Being an Aussie must make your popularity go up twofold by default. Note to self: Move to Australia. hehe.
If you come right to the log page, you might not have noticed there’s a new splash page. The Valentine’s Day motif just had to go.
I’m getting stressed about the whole car-purchasing, apartment-finding, moving-long-distance situation. Basically because I have pretty much no money at this point, and I don’t feel I am going to be able to pay for everything ahead of time. Yikes. I need a serious financial advisor. Too bad I can’t afford one!
I tried this stuff called Vitamin Water today. I’m wondering if it bears a signifcant resemblence to Diet V-8 splash. For 50 calories per serving, the Vitamin Water had an okay taste. I’m not sure I would choose it as my new favorite beverage – to me it tasted like some very weak orange jello. But it does give 100% daily allowance of many essential vitamins and minerals! So score!
I was walking back from the Commons today as usual, la la la, and I walk past some guy who says to me, “Hello Mary Kate!” Of course, I gave him a puzzled look upon which he realized, “Oh.. You’re not Mary Kate!” haha. Either this guy was really nearsighted or I have a twin on campus. How exciting. I must say, I have never been mistaken for this person before so I’m guessing it was probably the former.
I highly enjoy V-8 and V-8 Splash. I saw in Price Chopper that there is even Diet V-8 splash, with only 10 calories per serving. I was highly tempted to try it, but I was a bit wary to buy a $4 bottle of diet juice just to find it is quite nasty. I wish I had seen it in a 16 oz bottle. I also saw Spicy Hot V-8 in Father’s today. I wonder if it’s like putting Worcestershire Sauce regular V-8 in to spicen it up. I’m guessing it’s the same thing. My life must be really exciting lately if I’m so preoccupied with juice. Mm, juice.
If you’re as preoccupied with V-8 as I am, check out these V-8 downloads. Ah now I can dream about V8 whenever I see my desktop!
Ever since my database test has been over, I’ve been highly lazy. I must say it is quite enjoyable. Last night we went to Denny’s for some tasty morsels. Today I lounged around most of the time, and now I don’t feel much for moving around either. Shame on me- but it’s just so fun
I suppose it is somewhat deserved after a busy busy week.
I received an exciting catalog in the mail yesterday from Archie McPhee. They have such a wonderfully strange inventory. This isn’t stuff I see every day, and I absolutely adore this television purse. So hot!
Soo tired from studying. My body is telling me, “No more, Carrie! This isn’t good for your mental health!” I hope the stuff that we weren’t taught isn’t on there! I love how the professor talks about things about 2 seconds on one lecture slide and expects us to do these ridiculous problems about them. But ah, enough complaints from this end.
We did usability tests in my Technical Communications class today. I got to participate in one test on making spinach dip. Spinach dip does not sound very tasty at all, but it was. Even at 10 in the morning. I was a little afraid of what I was making to begin with (it had spinach, carrots, onions, mayo, sour cream, soup mix.. some other strange things) but it was certainly a tasty morsel when it was finished! Jum Jum!
In symphonic band tonight there were… 5 clarinets, 1 flute, 1 sax, 1 bass clarinet, and 2 trumpets. What exactly is wrong with this picture? I know there are lurking low brass players out there who are just dying to join our little group but are to afraid to! C’mon, release your inner band geek! Haha. OK, I feel I’ve done my duty in advertisement now.
I’m looking forward to a hopefully mostly lazy weekend.
Aye Yi Yi. Apparently nobody has a clear understanding of Domain or Tuple Relational Calculus. The thing is, it’s not really calclulus at all. Who knows WHAT it is. OK my guess is that ’tis a screwed up version of Relational Algebra, which seems useless enough to begin with. Enough mumbo jumbo. If you had a hard time understanding this paragraph just imagine my pain trying to figure out what an upside down A means!
In other news.. Hrm, there really is nothing else. Databases are my life for the next few days. Pretty sad eh?
