Sometimes living on a college campus makes me feel totally isolated from the outside world. Maybe it’s because I don’t watch a lot of TV. Maybe I need to go out shopping more. It never feels like holidays are coming like they did when I was in, say, elementary school, where we made Halloween-themed crafts in art class and carved pumpkins for weeks before Halloween. There was the inevitable planning of the Halloween costume, decorating of the big front window, baking of pumpkin seeds, packing the little goodie bags for trick-or-treaters….
Now, it seems as if holidays barely exist. I need to decorate my door so I feel more festive.
I signed up for Shutterfly.com yesterday. It seems like a really cool service, what it basically is, is online digital photo publishing. So you upload your digital photos and they print them at professional quality just like prints from film. Plus you can share pictures online and add captions to them and stuff. If I ever end up expanding my “photography” stuff on my website, I might just link to my Shutterfly thing because it’s so easy to update! Plus, you get 15 free prints for signing up for the service. Cool.
I have a presentation in Introduction to Literature tomorrow. We are comparing Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. You wouldn’t believe how many similarities we found. Even the titles are reflections of each other! So hopefully that presentation will go well!
Also trying to come up with a project to do for Web and Database Programming. Any e-commerce ideas? We might as well Get Rich Quick and get a good grade as well!
I FINALLY got my scrapbook up and running. You might notice I actually made it on Sept 19th. Oops!
These are scans from my real paper scrapbook, so I hope you enjoy them! Paper is so much more challenging to work with than digital media, I must admit. But it’s good practice, to actually physically cut things and use purple paste every once in awhile.
Today one of the horridly evil, demonic albino squirrels on campus was staring at me. I was walking along a path, and then I made a turn and it turned around and was STILL staring at me! I feel we had eye contact for like 30 seconds! I was sure it was going to fly through the air and attack me. Yeeek!
RPI is the only place I’ve ever seen an albino (white with red eyes) squirrel. I don’t know if they exist anywhere else. Maybe they were a laboratory experiment done by befuddled biology students. Anyhow, that was my weird experience of the day.
So the career fair wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be – except for the standing in 80 gazillion lines! I actually had an interview today with IBM. They sound cool, it would be hot to work for them I think, but we’ll see!

The biggest party of the year (at RPI, anyway) was this weekend. It’s called Nite on the Nile, which is basically our only toga party. (and what is college without a toga party? hehe). I went for an extremely festive toga. Silver lame fabric was on sale so how could I resist? I am going to make pillows out of it for my room during Thanksgiving break. Yay
Now I’m studying Managing IT Resources. I have to go memorize like 6 different equations and junk so I’d better get to work. mm, compound annual growth rate! Yum yum!
Just finished up my online portfolio. Ironically, I suddenly got motivation to do this because the career fair is tomorrow.
I need to get my assertiveness level up about 15 notches if I am ever going to find a co-op or internship! They should offer courses about how to be self-centered, which is basically what you need to be to get a good job. “I am great, lookit me! Yahooey!”
In other news, I feel like I’ve been stretched extremely thin this week for some reason. I didn’t even have THAT much work, but it seems like I’ve been busy doing SOMETHING for the past 3 days straight! I’m sure everyone else feels this way too, with midterms and whatnot.
Night on the Nile is this weekend! Yay!
While working on my case study, I found this online game from Maxim. Funny that’s what comes up when you type in “dot-com crash” in google. So educational.
I am sensing a somewhat busy week ahead. A midterm, case memo, photo shoot, bunches of cdc stuff, and the career fair this weekend. And another midterm on Monday. Poo. Someone give me motivation please? Please leave comments, even if they don’t have anything to do with my post, it makes me feel specialized and whatnot. hehe
All the boys downstairs just left to go to Boston to supposedly win AMD processors. What are they thinking? I suppose without doing things like that life would just be boring! However, MIT is right across the street from where they are having the contest thing, so it’s going to be a regular ‘ol computer nerd convention. (as the number of computer nerds increases, the chance of winning DECREASES!) I’m sure that Oak will have millions of pictures to exhibit regardless of anyone winning the beloved prizes. Hehe.
Though I’m probably not going to dress up for Halloween this year, I had some fun looking for Halloween costumes. Here are some that suit me perfectly! (ha!)
Let me put out your fire, baybay!
or make your tongue to grow to an astronomical size..
I had an exciting adventure to Maryland this weekend. It takes a long time to drive there – 7 hours! Aiy yiy yiy! But, it was fun fun – we went to a diner and I got a large piece of lemon mergengue pie that was extremely tasty.. what else, oh we went shopping at a few places. I got PC Photo Magazine, which I thought was pretty good, I might subscribe to it even though I don’t own a digital camera – I steal Oak’s all the time! hehee
I also got a new sports bra! (I’m sure you ALL wanted to know about that!) It is made out of special fabric that like.. is supposed to prevent sweaty yuckie stuff. Our instructor wears those as a shirt, but I don’t think I am ready for that stage. Maybe if I went to aerobics like every day for a year, then I’d be ready – hehehe
Yay for Columbus, we actually get a day off! woo woo!
Tomorrow means homework. :-p
