Oh, have my computing resources been delicining as of late. Firstly, my laptop screen would periodically turn black, usually when I was in the middle of doing something. So, my lovely laptop is in RCR (Rensselaer Computing Repair or something like that). I was supposed to get it back today, but I also wanted to get a replacement fan, and they apprently forgot to do that. Oh, woe is me… at least I have a loaner with my hard drive in it.
My printer is also misbehaving. I put a new color cartridge in there, and color is not working at all. Poo on that! What the heck? Seems as if I will have to call HP – I hope they have a 1800 number :-p
Does anyone else hate dongles as much as I do?
I am so obsessed, I am dying to eat a WHOLE BAG right now!! But they are nowhere to be found on campus! And I want some salsa! A whole par-tay! MMM!
This weekend was very thrilling! I was absolutely not productive at all. Party time Saturday night was definitely a highlight – oh boy! Oak took pictures of us and I haven’t seen them yet, I’m sure they’re extremely scary. Shira also discovered a new love – H&M. I got a shirt there too. And a gold leaf frame-making kit for $2 at TJ Maxx, ding. We ate lots of good food, namely Olive Garden, Friendly’s, and Ben & Jerry’s. Needless to say, I need to go on a major diet now. Lastly, I got this book in the bargain bin! Major score. Thanks for a fun weekend everyone! yahooey
Back to the old grind now.
How did I hear about the disaster today? I got an IM from an old high school friend before I rushed off to class, where our professor didn’t believe what we were saying until she saw pictures on the Internet. It was an incredible shock, and we endured many awkward silences during the meeting, until class was finally dismissed early after the second plane hit.
It’s at times like these I wish I had more understanding of world politics – I feel like I can barely synthesize what has happened. I can’t even discuss things because I haven’t the faintest understanding of what’s happening in the Middle East. Sure, I memorized the names for Global Studies. Now, it’s mush.
There were some comments about what happened from Singaporean’s point of view at NotQuite.org. It shocks me that someone wrote that we deserved what happened. Can they not imagine the same thing happening to their own relatives, innocent bystanders? As a New Yorker, this whole thing hit very close to home for me.
I heard someone else comment in class (an American) that we should have expected or at least anticipated something like this to happen – the US is not protected by a huge safety blanket, after all.
I just don’t know what to think, or what to feel. I filled my own little void by donating blood today. I suppose it may help someone who got hurt, but it probably helps me more.
I got this fortune in a cookie at the Commons:

Considering you’re supposed to add “in bed” to the end of fortune cookie fortunes, this is by far the dirtiest I’ve ever found.
Today I typed my name into Google to see where my name pops up on the big world wide web. My personal website doesn’t come up at all, which I found interesting, though I guess it is understandable since I never mention my full name. I guess it’s easy for me because there’s nobody else with my name. Try it!
Speaking of web presences, my best friend Shira’s website has not changed since 1999. (Get on the ball, Sheesh!) Visit her site for, how can I describe it, kitschy yet educational thoughts on carrots and sponges. Yeah.
I always post to this before I go to bed! Sunday was a usual Sunday.. pretending to do homework when in reality we are doing things like jumping on surplus matresses in our lounge, making “Fart Room” signs, and playing with my e-fortune cookie. Ah well, without that kind of stuff, what would college be? It would be like, uhm, real life. No thanks.
My best friend Shira is coming to RPI next weekend! Believe it or not, in the 2 years we’ve both been away at school, this will be the first time she’s been here, lol
By the way, you can leave comments on each entry.. I would like that.. hehe!
I watched The Others with Lisa and Laura last night. It was your usual mystery surprise ending type thing. The thing is, we’re wondering if people really did take pictures of the dead like they did in the movie. I have no idea where to start that kind of research, does anyone else know? I guess my first thought is to Ask Jeeves, though he usually just thinks I’m looking for pictures of senior citizens.
Hello and welcome to my new domain! I can’t believe it myself! Things around here aren’t exactly as I would like them, I’m still figuring out all of Greymatter’s capabilities as well as still trying to figure out what I would like to do with the site. This is a start, at least.
