So, Blogger is not actually uploading files now. Great. My past 2 entries haven’t shown up when I actually published them.. hehe. So, I changed my entire schedule pretty much.. I dropped Electronic Portfolios and Advanced Content Development and am now taking Web and Database programming. I figured this would be building more skills in the long run (aka, I can write that I know ASP and other junk on my resume). I also start my Computer science work-study in the morning and also might be doing an undergraduate research project, redesigning the Aerolab’s website. Woo baby! I’m bummed I wrote my schedule in my planner, cuz it’s all changed now. Geez. At least I can change it on here sometime, yeah baby.

OK so for some reason when I published a few days ago it never ACTUALLY published.. ooops :-) The first few days of class were.. ahem.. interesting, to say the least. My Advanced Content Development class is like teleconferencing, which is just extremely weird… If you say anything at all the camera like zooms in on you and everyone watches you over video monitors… eeek! I used to like when I didn’t have to worry about looking nice for class. In addition, we get to watch these people sitting there at IBM in San Hose, weird. That will definitely take major getting used to. Not to mention some primping before class… oh dear.

OK, I’m back in my extremely hot and sophisticated dorm room! I’ve been labouring over this place the past few days but the results are worth the effort. Classes begin tomorrow, I must rise bright and early for my 12pm class. Haha. I got one of those hair ties that looks like hair at Shop a Label today. It doesn’t completely match my hair color, but it was only $2 so whatever. I’ve been wanting one and they were $10 at the hairdressers’. Score.

A quick update on my foliage situation. Since I’ve been home, 2 of my foliages have died – the one with pink leaves and the mini palm tree. I guess this house just has bad vibes as far as plants are concerned. However, my croton is still doing lovely and has sprouted many new leaves since I repotted it. My mini cactus garden, however, needs a few new plants since some of them died. I think my dorm room must have better growing conditions (Obviously my GROW LIGHT!) Shira just gave me a jade plant, which was rooted in water. I have to put it in soil tomorrow hopefully. So much to do, so little time – I hate saying goodbye, but then I’ll be saying hello.. It seems like my life is always like that, I’m always missing somebody no matter where I am! *sob sob* But I definitely am excited to go back and start new classes with new shiny books.. yay.. ;-)

I went to the mall today, and you wouldn’t believe the amount of cherry-printed stuff there was. Did I predict a trend or what? Anyhow, I finally returned a torn shirt to Charlotte Russe and got a shirt and a jacket, and I got new Tommy Hilfiger jeans at Kauffman’s – which were 50% off! Ding! My mom was freaking out since there is a hole in my favorite Tommy jeans, on the edge of the back pocket, which I guess is kind of revealing. So she was going to buy me these jeans which I thought were $50, so I was like, score when I found out they were on sale for $24.95 – I didn’t feel half as guilty then :-) I am not really that brand-obsessed, I was just surprised to find the same cut of jeans I got 2 years ago, and they fit so well.. yay!

My last day at work was on Sunday, bummer. I am so (not) going to miss that job! Alas… I did get peanut butter cookies as a going away present! (YUM).

But, I am probably going back to Six Flags tomorrow. I still have like 10 guest passes, so I should actually go there for fun, don’t you think? Yeah, me too. I have so much work to do to get packed for school I really don’t want to think about it at all! Procrastination is key.

So this hilarious JC Penney commercial was banned!!! I found it so freaking amusing – it was an ad for hiphugger jeans, and they show a teenage (16-17 year old) girl modeling them in front of the mirror. Her mom comes in, and exclaims, “You can’t go to school looking like that!” and adjusts her hiphuggers so they sit on her hips.

This so totally reminded me of my mom and I – me being more conservative (ha!) then she is, always trying to talk me into more wild fashions. However, I guess people found this commercial offensive. There was this whole thing on the news yesterday about how little girls are dressing slutty like Britney Spears – and who is responsible for this kind of dress and behavior. Fashion Designers? Marketing? Culture? Parents? We could, of course, place all the blame on poor Britney herself. Sounds like less suffering in general would occur wouldn’t it? But really, if designers didn’t make those kinds of clothes for little kids, duh, they wouldn’t be wearing them!

Okay, so I’m back from Toronto!! Wohoo! I am way too lazy to write about everything that happened, so I am going to describe my Ikea experience in this entry.

As you know, the stop at Ikea was the most anticipated part of our trip. As we rounded the corner and saw the blue and yellow IKEA sign in Burlington, Ontario, I was unable to contain my excitement. Luckily we found our mecca quite easily. This was Sarah’s first time at Ikea, and she did not seem to share Shira’s or my emotional outburst, not even upon entering. Of course we went through the showroom area first, which was inspiring as usual. I got a photo of Shira and Sarah in this extremely hot set-up with hot coloured (notice my Canadian spelling!) couches and mod hanging lights. The couches were a bit stiff for my liking, however, though others were more comfortable. I finally got to sit in one of those lounge chairs that is like a metal frame with fabric stretched over it, and found it quite comfy.

After browsing the top floor, we stopped for lunch. I, of course, got the managers’ special – Swedish meatballs, salad, potatoes, bread, drink. I think that the cashier there was the same one that we had when we visited Ikea at Christmastime – I guess we should have written her name down, hehe. Before we began eating, we got a shot of our food which wasn’t quite as delicious as I recall it being in December, but tasty nonetheless. The most amusing thing happened during this part – a (Canadian, obviously) family was sitting next to us, a father, mother, and two little kids. The father exclaims, “Who wants to ride in the bag?” and the litle girl lit up and replied, “I DO I DO!”

Yes folks, a small child was riding around in one of those big yellow tote bags they give you for lugging your crap around. They also provide carts and strollers, so I simply do not understand why this father did this, but it was amusing anyway – the little girl’s head sticking out, her body reclined in the tote bag. How strange.

After lunch, we spotted these big stuffed snakes in the childrens’ area, and we were like, “KODAK MOMENT!” — Shira and Sarah were ready with the snakes around their necks, while I was about to take the picture when an Ikea worker tapped me on the shoulder and said, “You know you can’t take pictures in here, don’t you?”

Now how was I supposed to know that? There were no signs. I think it’s normally allowed to take photographs in stores, isn’t it? So we got no snake picture. Bummer. Please let me know if you can decode this strange mystery for me. I should have at least tried to get a picture of the little kid riding around in the tote bag too!

The rest of the Ikea visit was fairly uneventful – we were just doing serious shopping, of course. I got a new lamp and some other new decorations to go with my red and black motif. Woo hoo! I am, however, perturbed about the picture taking issue because I wanted to get so many more shots in the store before I left! Bummer!

Trying to keep in the habit of posting something every day, though my life has been extremely boring as of late. Let’s see, what exciting has happened todayish? Well, I worked, and came home and went on the internet.. errr.. Actually, yeah. OK. Two bugs seemed to squash right in my field of vision on the windshield, I sang very loudly in the car to myself, and I had 3 pieces of pizza, an orange, and some baby carrots. I find it amazing I have eaten so little today. I am so proud of myself but starving to death right now, dying to go get some oreos or nacho chips or some other equally unhealthy tidbits. Yuuuummmm… I need to ignore this urge, go to the bathroom, take some sleeping pills, and go to bed. Yes, I think that’s what I shall do. Later dudzzzz.

Broadway’s Dark Tonight…

OK, I was singing that chorus to myself the WHOLE time I was at work today! ARG! insert music notes… (see the young man sittin’ at the old man’s bar, waitin’ for his turn to diiiiiieee) speaking of music, I actually played my clarinet a few days ago. Weirdness. My mouth hurt badly after about half an hour. I really should join concert band this semester. If you know me, nag me until I do so. No more of this life without music junk. (To my future suitemates: I’m past the squeaking stage, mostly.. who knows now that I’m not “a seasoned clarinetist” any more though!! )

I also got hit in the head with falling prices at Walmart today! (I should get a hardhat!) I got a 5×8′ rug for $16.88! Deal of the day! I really needed one, too, to replace the purple one that doesn’t match my soon-to-arrive comforter. Yay.

At work, it is still the Kingdom Bound festival, and one of my coworkers went out in the park with a piece of cardboard with three 6’s written on it, duck taped to the back of his shirt (Quote,”To keep them away!”). Such festivities.

Just got some horrible news from Ryan’s site. Mr. Belvedere is no longer with us! That used to be one of my favorite shows, back when TGIF existed and the Olsen twins were still cute.
